If you ask the participants after the workshop how they found it, the word "intensive" comes up often. The heat in the arena at the Pirates Hub added to it. Yes, the programme of the Future Business Workshop was intense. 5 minutes of input from the Kickbox team in the plenary, then 10 minutes of time for elaboration, back to the plenary and back to elaboration. This tight timeboxing helps with teamwork as they (have to) decide quickly and consequently work as efficiently as possible.
A product or service can be as good as it is, if it does not solve a customer problem , then it does not add value. This customer-oriented view was drilled into the participants like crazy - "Very good idea, but which problem of your persona are you trying to solve?" or "Aren't there other approaches to solve this problem than your initial idea? The participants often had to hear these sentences, because the workshop was mainly about first defining the problem and the customer group that has this problem, before a suitable solution was worked out in a second step.
"In the workshop with Kickbox, I was heavily involved in going into the customer's point of view in order to implement a new idea that meets the customer's needs." - Setz Patrick, INI-DWP-ICC
Often we think that it is enough to have a great business idea. But we forget that the team behind it is the driving force that brings these ideas to the ground.
"Invest in people, not businesses" - Warren Buffet
Intensive discussions, pivoting of ideas and compromises are the order of the day at such workshops. The grand finale with the pitch was then the icing on the cake, because there the groups could show to what extent they had mastered this collaboration. In the end, the jury chose as the winner the group that could convince first and foremost as a team and tell a consistent story. The potential of the business idea was secondary.
" It is motivating and at the same time inspiring to see how new ideas for our customers can arise and be actively developed within a team" Setz Patrick, INI-DWP-ICC
