Uninspired? Innovative idea generation in no time!

The Swisscom Kickbox programme offers every employee the opportunity to implement his/her own idea and thus help shape the Swisscom of tomorrow. Many employees would like to become «CEO of your own idea», but they simply don't have the right idea yet. Therefore we have compiled two approaches for you below on how you can generate innovative ideas in no time  and thus start your Kickbox. Of course, these approaches are not exhaustive, so leave us your «favourite idea generation method» in the comments.

BlackBox Workshop - Problem-oriented
In this four-hour workshop, we will give you the tools to turn a problem into an idea and then into a prototype. Based on a design challenge of your choice, you will apply the most important elements from the field of Design Thinking and Lean Startup. Et voila and you have your idea, which you can register on the Kickbox website.

Megatrends - Future-oriented

Brainstorming based on megatrends offers you a good opportunity to develop explorative, innovative and a bit "out of the box" ideas. We also find it very interesting when you select a megatrend, e.g. "Silver Society", where you think: " doesn't even have that much to do with my area" - but that's exactly when the craziest ideas come together??

Procedure

1. Identify megatrend(s): This is the starting point. It's about understanding the megatrend and its impact on you as an individual, team or organisation. Decide on 1-3 megatrends that you feel are most relevant.
2. Brainstorming of ideas: Now you go into brainstorming, in which you wildly note down ideas which can be influenced by the megatrend. It is advisable to do a timeboxing here. The aim is to generate as many ideas as possible without judging or evaluating them.
3. Evaluate and filter ideas: After brainstorming, you can evaluate and sort the ideas based on feasibility, impact and fit with the megatrend.
4. Develop and refine ideas: The final step is to elaborate and test the most promising ideas. For a structured elaboration, you can register your idea on our platform right away and validate it with the help of your coach.

What exactly are megatrends?

Megatrends are long-term, irreversible changes that are driven by and influence technological, economic, social and environmental factors. Some examples of megatrends are increasing automation, New Work or the growing importance of sustainability. These megatrends shape the way we live, work and consume. Therefore, they also form the basis for new opportunities in the area of innovations and ideas. An overview of the megatrends can be found here.

Swisscom Kickbox

‍
Swisscom employees who have an idea can easily start and grow it with Kickbox . The physical box contains

- a starting credit of CHF 1,000
- 20% of working time for 2 months
- a manual explaining the idea validation process and providing valuable tips

In a multi-stage process and accompanied by a coach, the idea is advanced, pitched to juries and, in the best case, approved for the next stage.
