Originally, this concept came from Adobe. The software company created an internal innovation programme with the aim of encouraging employees to develop and test new ideas. As this programme has been successful, thousands of companies around the world have adapted this concept. Since the founders think that everyone should have the opportunity to realise their idea and challenge themselves with their own project, a lot of knowledge and material has been made public.
In the context of business innovation, Kickbox is the most popular project worldwide. The reason for this is that every employee gets a simple and uncomplicated chance to realise his or her idea. This promotes creativity, independence and is a great experience to stand up for one's idea. By managing their own project, employees can realise their full potential and achieve a lot professionally.
- Kickbox promotes independence and personal responsibility
- Creativity with the time you receive for your project, you have the opportunity to express yourself creatively
- Thanks to the budget you receive nothing stands in your way of implementing your ideas
- Thanks to the manual it is easier not to lose the red thread and to approach the whole project in a somewhat "guided" way
- The network that you can build up with the Kickbox-community can help you a lot on your way.
- The coaches support you all the way and challenge you to get the best out of yourself rauszuholen
One of the main reasons why Kickbox is successful worldwide is that ANYONE can start their own project. Every employee has the opportunity to submit an idea and try it out, even as a group. You get support from the company all the time and can get an insight into completely new topics.
The advantage for the company is that the employees work in such a motivated way and this can produce exciting and innovative projects and inventions. A small idea can become a significant product or service that has great potential.
An example of a successful Kickbox project by Swisscom is Rready. This project has managed to stand on its own feet and now supports other companies in implementing and scaling their intrapreneurship programmes.
Examples of Swiss companies that have also introduced Kickbox are SBB, Bosch, CSS, Ruag, Roche and many more. However, the approach is not exactly the same everywhere, for example, in other companies employees do not get 20% time of their working hours, but work on their project for a few weeks/months. Another difference is the budget and the procedure with the individual boxes.
One of the founders of Kickbox, who launched this programme at Adobe, presented this project to Swisscom in 2015. At the beginning, a small team tested this idea, which grew and reached more and more people. Since the beginning, several hundred people have realised their own idea. Every year, more than 70 new projects are launched in Swisscom.??
With us, everyone who wants to implement an idea gets a physical box(RedBox) containing a manual. You also get 20% of your working time for 2 months and a starting credit to push your project forward. If you have found a sponsor after the validation phase, the 4-month pilot phase follows(BlueBox), now you get a budget to carry out a pilot with customers. If, after this time, it turns out that your project has potential(GoldBox), you work 100% for your idea and can thus realise your dream!
Along the way, coaches and the Kickbox team will always be at your side, and you will also have the opportunity to build up a large network from which you can benefit.
